We participated in the “J-StarX Europe Long-term Program” organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The program is a high-profile dispatch program that enables participants to systematically build the knowledge, mindset, and network necessary to enter the European market while staying for an extended period of time at Station F, one of the world’s largest incubation facilities in Paris.
StarX Europe Long‑term Program
The program was implemented in three phases.
Overall flow
Phase 1
First, in the in-country online program (from the end of April to mid-May 2025), participants learned the basics of European business, KPI setting, target selection, and roadmap building through lectures and group work by over 1,000 mentors, and organized and brushed up their strategies before their trip.
Phase 2
Next, the on-site residency program (May 19 to July 18, 2025, maximum) provided the participants with the opportunity to stay at Station F for a minimum of one month (May 19 to June 20) and up to two months if they so desired, to take part in specialized workshops and mentoring organized by HEC Paris, to interact with cohorts from other countries, and to meet with local companies and investors. The program provided us with opportunities to materialize our own business development through specialized workshops and mentoring organized by HEC Paris, exchanges with cohorts in other countries, and business meetings with local companies and investors.
Phase 3
In addition, the demo day was coordinated immediately after VivaTechnology 2025 in Paris, France, providing an opportunity to pitch our company in front of European investors and major companies. We were also able to focus on brushing up our English presentations by utilizing the pitch corrections and feedback we received in advance.
Participating companies
10 Japanese startups based in Japan (1-2 participants from each company), mainly early-stage to Series A, CXO class with decision-making capabilities. Priority is given to deep tech fields, but a wide range of participants from all sectors are eligible. In addition, participants had to be able to stay in Paris for at least one month and participate in business meetings and pitches in English.
For startups looking to expand globally, this program provided an opportunity to take the first step toward European business as a valuable challenge that combined “knowledge, practice, and networking.
